The Parthenon, atop the Acropolis, Athens.

This place has a much longer history, I think, than the described date of building described as being c477/6 BC, even allowing for the previous temple of Athena (c570-60BC). Examining the very base foundations that have considerably more weathering than the upper structure, perhaps there was another building here, a long time before?   The energies here make one sit and contemplate, trying to get inside the heads of those that built it - why, how and what for?  Although the light has made it look pink on the photo, all the temples in Greece and Turkey shine out from the hillsides and hilltops like white palaces, amid the surrounding olive groves. Why white? Had the designers and builders some inner genetic fading memory of another place with white marble structures?
Atlantis, perhaps?
